Dear Kathy
I'm curled up on my sofa in my favorite jeans and denim shirt. Soft music is playing from Pandora (actually it's called softscapes radio station). The clouds have taken over the sky today and a dampness is in the air. I've taken a couple of days to rest and allow my whole being to catch up with itself. My mind and heart are spilling out in the form of tears and gratitude; a plethora of emotions and memories from the past few weeks.
This past weekend was the NAKED TRUTH event in Lima, OH! It was a very great honor to introduce Linda Dillow, a woman who has influenced my life for more than 35 years, to our part of the world. It was incredible to have Linda and Dr Juli Slattery, who I have come to respect and admire greatly this past year, speak candidly and authentically about God's design for intimacy and sexuality. They made us laugh and gave us courage to hear truth and be open to God's work in our lives.
I had spent the week prior praying through the names of the women who would attend. Our leadership team had prayed for them,and the prayer team had prayed for each seat that would be occupied. I saw each woman walk in and find her place. I asked God to do a work in them so BIG that they would know it could only be God who was speaking, awakening and healing.
I spoke with women who had dared to look deeply into their own stories and open their hands to God. I prayed for women who were wrestling with the hold that temptations have had on them claiming victory over them.
I watched as Linda and Juli prayed over women who have been abused and now cry out for freedom. I heard their testimonies of deliverance and forgiveness.
Through out this year of preparing for this event, I have begun to understand more fully the reasons that the enemy would choose our sexuality and intimacy to try to destroy us as women- and as men; to keep marriages from thriving; to keep us from being a full representation of God and His intimate love for us.
That is why here at GHC, we are focusing our groups and coaching to help women- and men come to a fresh awareness of God's plan for intimacy. We all have so many questions related to our sexuality. We have experienced the chaos that comes from a skewed perspective and have felt the pain that comes from it.
God wants to redeem intimacy in us- and work through us to touch the lives of others with His healing. God wants us to know love and to know others with love.
