This is a great week!  It's a week that we set aside to be intentionally grateful.  I love that!  This has been a year of learning to be grateful everyday, of giving thanks for the seemingly ordinary & random blessings of the day.   But I love that one day of the year, or season is set aside to remind us all that we have much to be grateful for!  I hope you are taking full advantage of the reminder.

What are you grateful for?

What are the ordinary things for which you have overlooked gratitude?

Who are you grateful for?  When was the last time you told them you were grateful for them?

What will it look like to be really grateful this Thanksgiving season?  It's worth pondering a little more about.  Ok- once a coach, always asking questions! Sorry!

For me, this has been a week when I have been given the privilege of 'bursting out in song'.  I was asked to 'fill in' on the worship team this weekend.  But that isn't where the song started.   You see, last week, I found myself very depressed.  It wasn't just a physical fatigue, but an emotional, mental, spiritual weariness.  And it left me feeling lower than I've been in a while.

After a great deal of soul searching, I discovered that I had forgotten to remember.   Does that make sense?  It was the verse above (Psalm 28:7) that spoke to me so clearly.  I had forgotten to remember that it is the Lord who is my strength and my shield.  I had forgotten to remember the many ways that I have seen him, that he has helped me.  When you remember, the verse tells us we are filled with joy.  When we forget...well, you get what I got.  Sadness and depression.

I once heard a speaker teach on this verse. She took each section and expounded on it and then put it all together and reminded me that if you add all the parts together- you just feel like you are bursting into song!  And she was right!

The amazing thing was the teacher was Leisha- our daughter who died in 2006.  And I heard her teach it after she died, on one of the audio tapes she had made while sitting alone in her room.   I would never have been allowed to listen to them while she was alive.  But soon after her death, I sat and played each one.  And when it came to the section on this verse, I marveled at her skill at teaching me great truth.

I'm reminded to remember all the ways He helps me and I am filled with joy!  This weekend, wouldn't you know it, I was asked to lead the congregation in singing "IT IS WELL!"  And I could sing it with my whole heart!  I could burst out in song with such thanksgiving!

How about you?  What do you need to remember this thanksgiving?  Can't wait to hear your version of the "SONG"!

Happy Thanksgiving!

GHC UPDATE

I'm thankful for many things this fall!

It has been amazing to see transformation, not just in my life, but in the lives of people in the GHC community.  Some of the comments I've heard are...

"I've been singing your praises for helping me move forward.  I know I am where I need to be."

"Personally, I am happier and more content- filled more with purpose and passion....Thank you for helping me. God's timing is so perfect."

A friend wrote, "I cant begin to thank you enough for letting God use your loss, your pain and your story to touch the hearts and lives of so many of us that are in similar places of loss and exxile...to see God meet you then and patiently love you, heal you, and restore you to a deeper measure of hope and joy.  I can't express how much you have taught me...!

Another client's note said "I pray for your success, you have amazing talent and ability to help people at the soul level.  Your approach is so gentle and gets to the roots of things too.  God is truly with you...He will continue to guide you."

I share these things to express how grateful I am to get to be part of the the life changes these clients are experiencing.  God has been working -not just in those I work with, but in my life as well.  How exciting it is to see that the journey I have been on is helping me to more sensitive the journeys of others.  God hasn't wasted anything in my story- and not in yours either!  Need help seeing how, give me a call at 419-306-8311.

May this thanksgiving be filled with thanks for the things that really matter.

May your heart be aware of the daily reminders God puts in your day to say I love you!

May your communion with God be filled with thanksgiving- which always precedes the miracle. (Ann Voskamp, One Thousand Gifts)

Shalom on you this Thanksgiving!  From our house to yours!
